The Mission

NSBE's mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community."

Outreach

New and innovative project ideas are generated and implemented throughout the year from our chapter. Some of NSBE's present activities include tutorial programs, group study sessions, high school/junior high outreach programs, technical seminars and workshops, an internal newsletter, resume books, career fairs, awards, and banquets.

Volunteering

Virginia Tech NSBE provides a variety of programs that requires the help of all students. Volunteering is a crucial part of any sponsored program. Through our chapter by volunteering this year will be implementing a new system for keeping track of participation. Our executive board will keep track what we call firepoints, which our points given to individual members based on their willingness to contribute to anything that NSBE is involved in. In return for these firepoints our chapter will put sponsored money towards specifiic individuals for National Convention attendance in Las Vegas. So please take the time and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and help out.

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) with more than 30,000 members, is one of the largest student-managed organization in the country. NSBE is comprised of more than 233 chapters on college and university campuses, 65 Alumni Extension chapters nationwide and 89 Pre-College chapters.
